A POST-FLOOD RELIEF MISSION BY KSASPER REDAH TEAM IN BANTING, SELANGOR

On January 6th, 2022, the Center of Foundation Studies for Agricultural Science, in collaboration with the ASPer REDAH Staff Club (KSASPer REDAH) team, has once again successfully carried out a post-flood relief mission. Fifteen PASP staff have been mobilised to Dr. Nur Hana Faujan’s residence at RTB Bukit Changgang, Banting, Selangor. The mission was aimed at aiding Dr Hana in cleaning and tidying affected areas around the house, lifting dried furniture and carpets and arranging them in the house, washing dishes polluted with mud and cleaning the stained walls.

The volunteers team gathered prior to embarking on a journey to the destination.

All volunteers gathered as early as 8 a.m. at the main building of the Center of Foundation Studies for Agricultural Science (PASP) to have breakfast. At the same time, cleaning appliances and equipment were also picked up and put into the bus that was loaned by UPM. The journey began with a photo session as well as a briefing on the operation and a prayer recitation by Tuan Haji Mat Razi Abdullah. The PASP management team and PASP staff who could not join the programme waved at the volunteers as the bus departed at 8.45 a.m.

The team arrived at the location at 9.40 a.m. and was warmly greeted by the host. After some discussion, the clean-up work was carried out based on the request of the affected staff. The clean-up work became easier and faster as both the host and staff volunteers worked together enthusiastically. The volunteers were cheerful and became more enthusiastic with the presence of the Director of the Center of Foundation Studies for Agricultural Science at 11.30 a.m. who managed to pay a visit to the location despite her packed schedule.

The volunteers were spotted doing some clean-up work and rearranging some household items.

The clean-up work finished at 12.40 p.m. and the volunteers were served with lunch afterwards. For this trip, breakfast and lunch were sponsored by the PASP management team, while mineral water and bottled water were sponsored by the PASP staff. The appliances were donated by the ASPer Staff Club. Overall, unconditional support and assistance from various parties facilitated the management and operation of post-flood relief missions held.

After inspecting the equipment, the team started boarding the bus and moved back to UPM at 1.30 p.m. The team arrived safely at PASP around 2.30 pm. All volunteers were happy and grateful for the opportunity given to join the programme. Hopefully such efforts can be continued in the future.
