stinasi ASPutra Program Strengthens University-School Synergy Through Collaboration With School Counsellors

SERDANG, 23 June - The Centre for Foundation Studies in Science of Universiti Putra Malaysia (ASPutra), organised the Destinasi ASPutra: Gateway from School to Foundation Studies programme in conjunction with PUTRA Synergy Month 2026, held at Seminar Room 1, ASPutra, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

The programme was one of ASPutra’s initiatives in support of the aspirations of PUTRA Synergy Month 2026, which emphasises strategic action, strengthened collaboration, and meaningful impact in line with the UPM Strategic Plan 2026 – 2030. The programme brought together 39 secondary school Guidance and Counselling Teachers (GBK) from schools under the Hulu Langat District Education Office (PPD Hulu Langat) to gain first-hand information about the foundation programmes offered by UPM.

The programme aimed to promote ASPutra’s brand and services to Guidance and Counselling Teachers while providing comprehensive information on programme structures, unique advantages, pathways for further studies, and student support services. In addition, the programme offered early exposure to the participating teachers on selecting suitable bachelor's degree programmes based on students’ interests, strengths, and aptitudes, as well as their relevance to future career opportunities and industry needs.

Programme highlights included a welcoming address by the Director of ASPutra, academic and promotional briefings, interactive question-and-answer sessions with ASPutra management, a tour of ASPutra facilities, and a sharing session by Puan Izwana Ismail, K.B., P.A., from the Potential Development and Lifestyle Unit, University Counselling Division (BKU), UPM.

The programme was also attended by Mr Mohd Fauzan Arief Jalaludin, Assistant District Education Officer, Student Affairs Unit, Hulu Langat District Education Office, and Puan Zuraiyah Ramli, President of the National School Counsellors Council, Hulu Langat District.

The organisation of this programme is expected to strengthen the strategic relationship between ASPutra and secondary school Guidance and Counselling Teachers under PPD Hulu Langat in assisting students to make informed educational decisions. Through closer collaboration, the teachers can play a vital role in disseminating information on educational pathways at UPM to students, thereby increasing awareness of ASPutra as one of the preferred destinations for foundation studies.
