History of Establishment

Centre for Foundation Studies in Science of Universiti Putra Malaysia, was established and commenced its operation as the centre of teaching and learning for Agricultural Science Foundation programme on the 1st June 2005.

As an academic entity, the centre has decided to accept 30 students for its first intake (2005/2006). However, the number of students have steadily increased to 1000 students per intake. To date, 5,7321 students have successfully completed their studies.

Centre for Foundation Studies in Science of Universiti Putra Malaysia has administered several programmes review and revision to meet the current needs where the focus was on the duration of the study. Initially, the length of the program was executed within 3 semesters which was equivalent to a year and a half. However, recently the length of the course has been shortened to one year which is equivalent to 2 semesters.

Originally, all registered students will automatically receive Bantuan Kewangan Asasi, a needs-based financial assistance funded by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). However, starting from 2017, the ministry in their latest financial restructuring has set a new ruling that only eligible students can apply for the financial assistance.

There were many changes in the duration of 15 years since ASPutra started its operation. Nonetheless, we will always strive to provide the best for our students.
