ASPutra Welcomes Visit from SMKA Pagoh, Muar

SERDANG, 3 December – A total of 40 students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (SMKA) Pagoh, Muar, Johor participated in the Kem Jati Diri Series 4.0 organised by Tan Sri Aishah Ghani Collage, Universiti Putra Malaysia. The programme featured the involvement of Centre for Foundation Studies In Science Of Universiti Putra Malaysia (ASPutra) as one of the main facilitators for the programme’s key activity slots. The initiative aimed to provide early exposure to students in the fields of science, technology, and agriculture through an experiential learning approach.

The program began with the students’ movement to ASPutra, followed by a welcoming address delivered by Associate Professor Dr Noor Azmi Shaharuddin, Deputy Director I of ASPutra. This was subsequently followed by an introductory briefing on ASPutra presented by Puan Wan Nur Atikah Wan Mohd Adnan. The briefing provided a comprehensive overview of the roles, functions, and learning opportunities offered by ASPutra to prospective students.

Next, the students were divided into two groups to participate in knowledge transfer activities involving several key units at ASPutra. The units involved included the Physics Unit, Chemistry Unit, Biology Unit, and Agriculture Unit. Through these sessions, students were exposed to hands-on learning activities that integrated theory and practice in line with the demands of 21st-century education.

The program was further enlivened with a photography session at Dataran Asasi 1, ASPutra, as a memento of the students’ participation in the programme. Overall, the activities were carefully designed to provide a meaningful learning experience and to strengthen students’ understanding of the real-world applications of science and agricultural knowledge.

The students responded positively, stating that the interactive and collaborative learning approach provided a meaningful new experience and enhanced their interest in the fields of STEM and agriculture. In addition, the students expressed their inclination to consider ASPutra as one of their main choices for pursuing further studies at the next level.
