Covid-19 pandemic has changed students’ life as it became harder when they need to be in social and physical isolation. No more school, no more physical contact with friends, and no more outdoor activities. When classes moved online and students’ world became much smaller, they started to find an outlet to express their emotions and vulnerabilities. Experts say getting creative is one way to ease emotional distress and reduce anxiety in this ongoing pandemic. Among numerous creative activities for students, writing can serve as therapeutic outlet. Hence, ASPer English Unit has created a space for ASPer Batch ‘17 to express the emotions through their piece of writing.

Creative Writing Competition 2022 was organized by ASPer English Unit in conjunction with Online English Festival 2022. It was held in between March 11 and March 20. With the theme of ‘Rely on You’, students can pen their thoughts on their relationship during these difficult times. There were two categories in the competition: 3-6-9 Poetry Writing and 150 Words Short Stories. The competition received 26 submissions from Poetry Writing contest and another 26 submissions from Short Stories contest.

The entries were screened by a panel of judges through two stages of evaluation and, subsequently, 3 winners were picked for both categories. The judges and English teachers enjoyed reading all the entrees and it was encouraging to see the younger generation being confident in sharing their experience and perspective about life.
